At the Great and Holy Friday's vespers yesterday, Kira asked me about the Palm Sunday icon: "who is it there?" I told her in a few words about Jesus on the donkey, His disciples and others meeting Him at the gates of Jerusalem. She looked at it for a while and asked: "where are WE in this picture?"
Good question. Are we following Him, and probably going to leave Him at the tough moment - but hopefully come back too? or are we those crying "Hosanna!" who are going to shout "crucify Him!" a little later?
Meanwhile, it is the Great and Holy Saturday. The fire came down once again in Jerusalem, and the joy has found us this morning, somewhere between the Old Testament readings and the start of the liturgy. For now, in whispering voice: Christ is risen!
